I wonder what is it about soccer coaching drills that makes kids so keen on it. Kids look at these drills as an opportunity to have pleasure and not just a sport. Developing youth soccer drills therefore poses a challenge before a coach to ensure that kids are attracted in a big way towards it.
You could do it in many ways. Offer them to participate in fun activities that direct their energy in building up a feeling of competition amongst them. Soccer is a team-game, always remember that. Therefore it is critical to introduce games that promote team spirit among the boys.
The best soccer coaching strategies will guide you to begin with fun soccer trainings with kids. It helps you to utilize their tremendous energy as well as make them focus on the game.
Guide the kids to first warm up their bodies by going for a small round of jogging or running. Ensure that they do not overdo it. It is easy for them to go overboard since they are full of energy and would not know when to stop. Small breaks are necessary in between. This way they will stay energized and alert. You can also use the breaks to discuss the subsequent drills with them.
The players should be then grouped or given individual tasks. Take an example, the player who arrives first starts juggling the ball. He is joined by players who then arrive in a specific order. Like this, the entire group does the same activity. If the group becomes bigger for the soccer coaching drills, it is a good idea to divide it into groups.
There are other productive and interesting activities such as soccer golf where the players can aim to hit a distant object. There is another activity called the soccer volleyball in which the kids play in a small area and the idea is not to let the ball touch the ground. These soccer coaching exercises add a great deal of diversity to the sessions.
Apart from it, have the players dribble the ball and also use other parts of the body but not hands. Do not be forceful. Keep in kind that they are children and will take time to master the skills. A great way of making this exercise interesting is shouting out the name of a specific body part such as foot, knee, elbow etc when the player is ready to tackle the ball. Then the player uses only that body part. This makes them attentive and focused.
Circuit training is another interesting drill. It is extremely useful with large number of players. It is advisable to divide the players into smaller groups and many tasks. It is important to carry out these activities frequently with only small breaks in the middle.
Test these straight away. Soccer drills can be made extremely interesting by your imagination and creation of new activities.
